DHI Hair Transplant

DHI Hair Transplantation is also known as ductless transplantation technique. For this process, a sharp-edged tool known as a choi needle is used. In the DHI hair technique, the hair follicles collected from the donor area are placed in the chamber inside the device and transplanted directly into the area where the hair will be transplanted, with special tips without drilling any holes. In the DHI process, the waiting time of the hair follicles (grafts) outside the solution is minimized and they remain stronger.

How is Hair Transplantation Performed with DHI Technique?

Unlike FUE, the DHI technique can be explained as a method in which hair follicles taken from the donor area are transplanted to the area to be transplanted with an implanter without opening a channel. Unlike the micromotor, the Choi pen is cylindrical and has a sharper structure. The grafts are placed in a canal-shaped needle and made ready for hair transplantation.

DHI Technical Stages

★ In the DHI technique, the assistants place the hair follicles, which were previously taken and kept in the solution, in the choi pen. (Contrary to the FUE method, DHI hair transplantation needs more manpower. Because all the roots are placed in the pen one by one.) The tips placed in the pen, sa. It is given to the doctor who will perform the transplantation one by one.
★ The doctor also transplants the hair follicles at 40-45 degree angles, another point is to make them suitable for the direction of the person’s previous hair.
★ After determining the angle and direction of the hair follicles placed in the Choi needle, sowing is done with the pushing feature of the needle; Between 2 and 6 Choi pens and 15-16 Choi tips are used in the operation, the tip can be of different sizes, this is determined according to the hair root and thickness structure of the person.

Choi hair transplantation method has different advantages and disadvantages than FUE method.

Advantages of DHI Technique

Let’s talk about the advantages of DHI hair transplantation, which has been applied by our doctors for many years and we have 100% guaranteed results;

★ It minimizes the time that the hair follicles stay out of the tissue and performs the transplantation in a healthier way.
★ The survival rate of hair follicles is high.
★ Since Choi does not cut the pen, the incision area is quite small. In this way, the risk of bleeding is minimized.
★ With faster recovery after the surgery, the person returns to his daily life in a short time.
★ In this technique, unshaven hair transplantation is easier.

Disadvantages of DHI Technique

The disadvantages of DHI hair transplantation compared to the FUE method are:

★ The doctor and team who will apply the DHI hair transplant method should be experienced and trained in this regard.
★ Otherwise, irreversible and very sad situations may arise.
★ It is more expensive than other methods.
★ The person who will transplant should be careful and in good condition.
★ Planting in the hairy area means that the planting area is very narrow, if there is not enough experience, Choi may damage other hair follicles with its tips while working in this narrow area.

What causes hair loss?

Hair loss can have multiple causes. The health status of the candidates is one of the main reasons for hair loss. The main causes of hair loss are as follows.

★ Genetic
★ Hormonal (especially testosterone deficiency)
★ Menopause
★ Pregnancy
★ Stress
★ Malnutrition
★ Drugs used
★ Diseases
★ Environmental factors

Does Hair Transplantation Hurt?

Since both the donor and recipient area are anesthetized with local or sedation anesthesia during hair transplantation, pain is not felt, but painkillers can be prescribed in case of any discomfort later on.

Before DHI Hair Transplantation

Things to consider when deciding on hair transplant surgery are as follows: Before coming to the hair transplant operation, you should definitely pay attention to the information given to you and the prohibitions you must comply with. You should definitely stop drinking alcohol. It is important to stay away from cigarettes and caffeinated beverages before the operation day. Definitely tell your doctor if you are taking heart, diabetes or blood pressure medication.

Do not use anticoagulants such as aspirin 2 weeks before surgery. Do not use multivitamins containing vitamin B and vitamin E 1 week before, as they may increase bleeding. Before the operation, wash your hair and use gel, spray, etc. Do not use chemical products. The process of hair transplantation may vary according to the region where the candidates experience baldness. For this reason, you should definitely eat something before you come to our center on the day of the operation or undergo the procedure.

If sedation is to be given during surgery, arrange for someone to pick you up from the clinic as the effect can last for 24 hours. Wear button-up clothes such as shirts and cardigans while coming to the surgery.

After DHI hair transplant

★Do not wash your hair for three days and do not touch the hair transplant area with water. In the washing process, gently wash your hair with your fingertips using the shampoo and lotion recommended by your doctor. (Your doctor will do the first wash.)
★ After washing, dry your hair lightly with a towel, try not to use a blow dryer. If you have to use the machine, do not bring the machine too close to your head and do not use hot air.
★ Avoid sports such as football that will hit the head area. You should protect the transplanted area and the nape area from any impact or trauma for 2 weeks.
★ Use a hard and small pillow to prevent damage to the transplanted hair follicles while you sleep. Lie on your back as much as possible.
★ Try to wear button-down clothes for a while. When removing clothes such as sweaters, the planting area may be damaged.
★ After the hair transplant operation, you should use the protective hat provided to you to protect it from factors such as sun, dust, wind and rain. Stay away from environments such as the sea, Turkish bath, sauna.
★ In general, crusting ends in the areas where hair transplantation is performed in 10 days. Contact your doctor if crusting lasts more than 15 days.

Is Everyone Suitable for DHI/Choi Hair Transplantation?

This method was applied for the first time in Korea Kyungpook University. According to the results of the research, it was concluded that not every patient is suitable for hair transplantation with the Choi pen. It has been shown that fine-stranded and crimped hair follicles are placed on the implanter tip and damaged during transplantation. In subsequent studies, implanter pen was produced not only for people with thick hair specific to Asians, but also for more general hair types.

The implanter pen used today is between 0.64 mm and 1.0 mm. At the point reached today, in the light of scientific and technological developments, operations are performed safely with Choi tips. Therefore, in hair transplantation with Choi tips in specialized clinics, effective, predictable, natural-looking hair is handled.

How Long Does a Hair Transplant Last?

Hair transplantation is a permanent solution for hair loss. The transplanted hair follicles are typically taken from the back and sides of the scalp, where hair is genetically programmed to grow for life, and then transplanted into the balding or thinning areas of the scalp.

Once transplanted, the hair follicles will continue to grow hair for the rest of your life. However, it’s important to note that hair transplantation does not prevent further hair loss in other areas of the scalp. If you have a progressive hair loss condition such as male pattern baldness, you may continue to lose hair in other areas of the scalp over time.

To maximize the longevity of your hair transplant results, it’s important to follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions carefully. This may include avoiding certain activities such as heavy exercise or swimming for a period of time after the procedure, using special shampoos or medications to promote healing and hair growth, and avoiding exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

In general, most patients can expect to see full results from their hair transplant within 9 to 12 months after the procedure. At this point, the transplanted hair should be fully grown and integrated into the surrounding hair, and the results should be natural-looking and long-lasting.

DHI Hair Transplant Results Month

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a technique used in hair transplantation where individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and implanted directly into the recipient area without the need for creating incisions or channels.

The results of a DHI hair transplant can vary from person to person and depend on various factors such as the individual's hair loss pattern, the quality of the donor hair, the skill of the surgeon, and the post-transplant care.

In the first month following a DHI hair transplant, you can expect to see some initial changes in your hair growth. It's common to experience some shedding of the transplanted hair within the first few weeks. This shedding is a normal part of the hair growth cycle and doesn't indicate a failed transplant.

By the end of the first month, you may start noticing the growth of new hair in the transplanted area. The newly transplanted hair will typically be thin and fine at this stage. It's important to note that the results may vary, and some individuals may experience faster or slower hair growth.

It's crucial to be patient during the recovery process as hair transplantation is a gradual and progressive procedure. The full results of a DHI hair transplant may take several months to become apparent. It's common for the transplanted hair to go through different growth phases, and you should see improvements in density and thickness over time.

To get a more accurate assessment of your specific case and progress, it's best to consult with a qualified hair transplant surgeon who can evaluate your individual situation and provide guidance based on your unique circumstances.

What is the difference between FUE and DHI hair transplant

Both FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) are techniques used in hair transplantation, but they differ in how the hair follicles are extracted and implanted.

  1. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE):

    • In FUE, individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area of the scalp using a small, circular punch tool.
    • The extraction process involves making tiny incisions around each follicular unit, and then the follicles are carefully removed one by one.
    • After extraction, the hair follicles are implanted into the recipient area by creating small incisions or channels.
    • FUE allows for a more precise extraction of individual follicles, making it suitable for patients with good donor hair density and those who prefer to wear their hair short.
  2. Direct Hair Implantation (DHI):

    • DHI is a variation of FUE where the extraction and implantation of hair follicles are done simultaneously using a specialized tool called a Choi pen or implanter pen.
    • With DHI, the extracted hair follicles are immediately implanted into the recipient area without the need for creating incisions or channels beforehand.
    • The Choi pen has a hollow needle that allows for the direct implantation of the follicles, resulting in a more controlled and precise placement.
    • DHI is often preferred by patients who want to minimize the handling and exposure of the hair follicles during the transplantation process.

In summary, the main difference between FUE and DHI lies in the method of hair follicle extraction and implantation. FUE involves extracting the follicles first and then implanting them, while DHI combines the extraction and implantation process into one step. Both techniques can yield successful hair transplant results, and the choice between them depends on the individual's specific needs and the recommendations of the hair transplant surgeon.
